EXTRA TIPS & TRICKS
FOR STUDENTS
As students, you know that knowledge is power and education is invaluable. Unfortunately, not everyone has the opportunity to receive an education. Wear a school dress for the 132 million girls around the world who can’t and support One Girl with your classmates or uni friends! Working as a school or university group adds extra fun and support with Do It In A Dress.
Plan ahead.
If you’re in school, make sure you get the OK from your teachers first to add a new event into your school’s busy calendar. If you’re in university, look into working with your residence college or student union – there’s a built-in team ready to be inspired!
Request a One Girl Speaker.
Once you have approval and a date for your event, we’d love to support you! You can request a One Girl speaker to talk to your school (in person or virtually) to help you inspire everyone about the cause you’re supporting. Email speaker@onegirl.org.au to book your talk today!
Brainstorm
Working with a big group means that you have strength in numbers! Think about what kind of event or challenge you want to do. We’ve got lots of ideas to get you started!
What’s the target?
Setting a fundraising target helps everyone work towards a common goal. Be ambitious or start small, the choice is yours!
Set up your fundraising page.
Setting up a donation page online is the easiest way to accept donations and track your progress.
Spread the word.
Now that you’re all good to go, it’s time to spread the word! Raise awareness throughout your school and university and get together to achieve something amazing!
FOR TEACHERS
As a teacher, you know that knowledge is power and education is invaluable. Unfortunately, not everyone has the opportunity to receive an education. Wear a school dress for the 132 million girls around the world who can’t and support One Girl with your students! Working as a school or university group adds extra added fun and support with Do It In A Dress.
Spread One Girl’s message.
Spread One Girl’s message! We would love to help spark your student’s interest for One Girl and girls' education by speaking to your school. We can tell them about our mission, why girls are out of school all around the world and how you, as a school, can help. Get in touch with us!
Brainstorm.
Getting students involved in coming up with ideas and planning fundraising activities is a great way to encourage creativity and leadership skills. Here are a few ways you can fundraise at school: Organise a bake sale, hold a mufti-day/casual clothes day, host teacher vs student activities.
Set a target.
To motivate students and get the ball rolling, why not set a fundraising target for everyone to work towards? A target helps everyone to stay on track and gets the school excited as you inch closer towards the end goal.
Do It In A Dress.
Once you have all spread the word about your activities, it’s time to host your event. Let students pave the way and help them as they exercise their leadership and management skills.
Share your success.
Once your school fundraising and activities are done, collect the money you have raised and send us a cheque along with some stories about how you raised this amount. We love to hear about schools and the hard work and creativity behind fundraising activities! If you need to make a donation via bank transfer, please send us an email at info@onegirl.org.au and we’ll provide you with the details you’ll need!
Wait, there's more!
Workplace Fundraising
You know that getting the work crew together for a good cause can be a lot of fun. Why not try organising a morning tea, movie night, or fitness challenge (like a yoga class, run club or boot camp) in your school dresses! Or you could nominate your boss to be a Boss in a Dress – get in touch with us at info@onegirl.org.au to find out more.
