From my first day at school to my last, I've bee surrounded by a family, a community and a country that not only allowed me an education by actively encouraged every stage of it.
I was given the chance and the privilege to learn something new every day, to be surrounded (most of the time) but other students who also wanted to learn and by teachers who inspired me and lifted me up to the best that I could be.
I can say in all confidence, that I would not stand where I do today, study a physiotherapy degree, if it had not been for the teachers who sat with me while I stressed over English essay's or my Mum who never failed to remember when my homework needed doing or the friends along the way who reminded me that school wasn't all about the work.
Not only did I have the chance to go to school, but coming from Longreach, a small town in Western Queensland, I had the chance to board and thus attend one of the best schools in Queensland. This wasn't easy for me or my family, especially considering the recent drought that still drags on at home, but it goes to show the value we place on getting the best education possible here in Australia.
My goal and my dream with Do it in a Dress is to raise the value of girls education in other parts of the world. To do that, we need to get more girls into the classroom, and to that, we need money and support. One Girl is an incredible organisation, filled with amazing and world-changing people and we can all have a hand in the change they generate, by donning a dress for the next few months, or by simply donating to a friend, colleague or stranger who is!
Get behind this incredible organisation, you won't regret it!
Lots of love,
I'm fundraising for...
The 130 million girls around the world for who education is not a right.
Education is the cornerstone of our world and throughout my life, I have been lucky enough to receive an amazing education. From preschool to university I have had a family who supported me in all my academic endeavours, a community that valued the education of girls and teachers both male and female to look up to!
Now, I have the chance to give another girl, on the other side of the world that opportunity; to provide her with a uniform, school books, extracurricular classes, additional tutoring and most importantly, a place in the classroom.
I'm really excited to embark on this journey again, spread awareness and hopefully change the life of a girl just like me! :))
