Making a difference - one dress at a time!
Living in a country of affluency, it is commonplace to take your education for granted as it is something that we are accustomed to. I have had access to education at both a school and tertiary level and find myself, at times, complaining about upcoming assessment deadlines or 8am lectures. But, not all of us are afforded these same opportunities that I take for granted. The harsh reality is that over 130 million girls worldwide are denied the opportunity to receive an education. Shockingly, in Sierra Leone, girls are more likely to be sexually assaulted than attend high school and almost a third will be married and pregnant before their 15th birthday.
For the month of October, I will be wearing a dress and joining The Women's College team to raise awareness and funds for female education in underdeveloped countries, such as Sierra Leone. In the words of Pakistani activist for female education Malala Yousafzai, “One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world. Education is the only solution. Education First.”
Any donations, big or small, can make the biggest difference in the lives of these girls :)) Help me change the world and break the cycle through girls' education - one dress at a time!
