I'm Doing It In A Dress because...
... From as young as five years old, education was granted a ‘given’ for me. Growing up in privilege and living in a first world country makes access to education not only attainable, but encouraged. Education is regarded with such high importance, yet more than 130 MILLION of our sisters in countries less fortunate than ours are out of school, sometimes going their whole lives without even encountering the opportunity to attain an education.
It’s my education that has enabled me to change my life and pursue a future which will change those of others, which is why I’m participating in ‘Do it in a Dress’ again this year, to raise awareness and funding to provide education to girls in Sierra Leone and Uganda.
Educating these girls not only changes their lives, but the lives of their families, communities and countries. If that’s not already selling enough, getting more girls in school will have a positive impact on climate change!
By throwing it back to the 2000s and wearing a school dress, I will be part of the victory that sees our African sisters putting on their school dresses and pursing crucial education.
Better still, you can join me in brightening the future of our sisters -
Any money donated to my page, The Women’s College’s Page, or the cause makes you a direct part of improving the lives of those less privileged than you and I.
All donations big and small are appreciated and encouraged. Furthermore, In light of getting back in touch with the schoolyard look, I have decided I will cut my childhood bangs (like the ones I’m rocking in my photo) if I hit my target fundraising goal of $1000.
So join me! Together we can change the world, one educated woman at a time.
Reached 100% of your fundraising target! A+ effort!
