When you educate a girl,
everything changes.

Education is a Right, Not a Privilege

All young people, no matter who they are or where they are born, deserve the right to quality education and an equal opportunity.

There are many different barriers that stand in the way of millions of girls from accessing a safe and fair education. But when it comes down to it, girls are often denied an education, simply because they were born a girl. This is not okay.

We're on a Mission

At One Girl we break down barriers so young women and girls can access quality education, in and out of the classroom.

We believe that education is a lifeline and one of the most powerful instruments to reduce poverty, improve health and wellbeing, mitigate the climate change crisis, and ensure gender equality.

We work in Sierra Leone where there are still significant barriers to girls receiving an education.

When you educate a girl, everything changes.

When a girl is educated, her health, status, income and entire future changes for the better, and she will be more likely to educate her own family.

She will have opportunity, choice and agency; and she will have the confidence and knowledge to make informed decisions about herself, her future and her family. And her community will benefit too! Plus, educating girls is the number one way to fight climate change, and create a fair and sustainable planet for all

With every year of schooling,
a girl's income will increase by
37-41% reduction in global emissions by improving access to quality education, sexual reproductive health and rights, and access to modern contraceptives
Educated women invest 90% of their income back into their families and communities
