“One of the most important challenges I face in school is bullying for my colour and how I look.“
Princess is 13. Like many girls in Sierra Leone, she faces barriers to education every day—but she’s determined to rise above them.
She lives in a riverside community where flooding is constant and space is tight. Basic services like healthcare and sanitation are hard to come by.
On top of that, Princess lives with albinism—and in her community, that often means being bullied or excluded simply because of how she looks.
“One of the most important challenges I face in school is bullying for my colour and how I look. It's hard for people to accept that I am me.”
Meet Princess in the video below and see how she is rising above these challenges.
With the support of One Girl, Princess is building confidence and achieving top results in school. She dreams of attending Harvard University one day.
Thanks to access to school supplies, life skills sessions, and emotional support, she’s taking powerful steps toward that future.
“They’ve helped me in being confident, in being strong, and in being myself. They’ve also helped me outshine others—in my studies, in my results.”
