By submitting these details you confirm that you agree to our Privacy Policy and to hear about how your support educates girls in Sierra Leone.

A girl’s future should never be decided by poverty, her gender, or where she’s born.

Yet for too many girls in Sierra Leone, barriers like school fees, early marriage, and heavy domestic workloads push them out of school long before they’ve had a fair chance.

Education changes that.

When a girl stays in school, her confidence grows.
Her choices expand.
Her future stays possible.

This International Women’s Day, your donation helps girls like Fatmata stay in school and build the future they choose for themselves.

Right now, every dollar you give is doubled.

Meet
Fatmata.

“Today, I use my experience to inspire other girls to stay in school and believe in their dreams.
Completing the One Girl program was not the end of my journey — it was the beginning of a new chapter in my life.”

At just 14 years old, Fatmata was on the edge of missing out on her education.

Her mother was supporting four children on a very limited income. Every school term brought the same quiet fear — school fees, uniforms, books, and daily costs added up quickly. And staying in school depended on what her family could afford that term.

For Fatmata, education didn’t feel secure.
It felt uncertain. Fragile. At risk.

Then One Girl stepped in.

With her school fees covered — along with her uniform, books, and daily essentials — the worry began to lift. For the first time, Fatmata could focus on learning instead of what might take her education away.

And she thrived.

Fatmata completed secondary school, earned a degree in Applied Accounting, and is now finishing her Masters in Finance and Accounting.

Today, she works at One Girl as a Finance and Admin Officer.

Her journey has come full circle — from scholar to staff member — and she now uses her experience to inspire other girls across Sierra Leone, showing what’s possible when a girl is given the chance to stay in school and follow her goals.

Why Girls?

We believe, when you educate a girl, everything changes.

  • A girl with an education earns more, marries later, and is more likely to raise healthy, educated children.

  • Every additional year of schooling can boost a girl’s future income by up to 20%

  • If all girls completed secondary school, child marriage would drop by 64%.

  • Educated girls are more likely to participate in decision-making, respond to climate disasters, and help break cycles of poverty.

When we support girls to stay in school, the ripple effects are powerful — for their futures, their families, and entire communities.

This is one of the most effective ways to create lasting change.
One girl at a time.
