Isata’s Journey Back to the Classroom

At One Girl, we believe that education is more than just books - it is a lifeline. For Isata, a determined junior student in Sierra Leone, that lifeline was recently put to the ultimate test.

A Resilience Tested

A devastating fire recently swept through Isata’s family home. In an instant, they lost everything they owned. While we are incredibly grateful that no one was injured, the emotional and financial toll was heavy. For Isata, the loss of her school materials felt like the loss of her future. She was left heartbroken, wondering how she could possibly continue her education without even a pen or a notebook to her name.

More Than Just School Supplies

Our team on the ground knew that time was of the essence. We visited Isata and her parents to offer support and let them know they weren't alone.

We are proud to share that One Girl was able to immediately replace all of Isata’s school materials. From her uniform to her textbooks, we ensured she had everything she needed to reclaim her seat in the classroom.

The Power of Determination

Seeing Isata head back to school - not with a sense of defeat, but with "so much hope and determination" - is exactly why we do what we do.

In Sierra Leone, a crisis like a house fire often forces girls out of school forever. But with the right support system, a girl’s education can be "disaster-proof." Isata isn't just back in school; she is proving that while fire can take your possessions, it cannot touch your ambition.

When you support One Girl, you are providing the safety net that keeps girls learning, no matter what challenges they face.
