My Updates

#TEAMPINK DOES RUN2CURE AND MARCH UPDATE

This morning was the first race of the year for #TeamPink in and around The Domain and Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney for 10ks in the Run2Cure guided by Kate and Emily from Achilles Sydney in 54:48. Was cool at the start which was nice and didn't really get too warm so I could keep and build pace. Ended up having a surge of adrenalin and powered up one hill. Had good runs for the rest of the month even running with a new guide Hannah who was able to keep up and guide. Also walked a half marathon distance too in 3:20.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 1/4 MARATHON

Today for Achilles training the plan was 10ks but ended up doing 10.55ks which is 1/4 marathon distance with 2 laps of the Sydney Harbour Bridge guided by Mel, Taili and Michael. (who took the pic) Wore my One Girl Run Like A Girl top with today being International Women's Day with pink skirt and pink socks. Was a challenging run with a storm last night creating high humidity.

January / February Update for Team Pink

Training for Team Pink got back underway in late January with the news a guide is injured and most likely out until March / April. Most runs Emily and myself have been ticking off 10k runs in about 55 - 58 minutes with the longest being 15.6ks in just under 90 minutes. Happy with the progress. We have been able to work in our own extra activities such as Emily's cycling events and my own train crewing events. Have also entered a few events too including Run 2 Cure, the new Parramatta Half Marathon and a 7k run out at the new Western Sydney Airport which includes running down the runway. Only 6 months to go until the big day.

2026 SYDNEY MARATHON JOURNEY BEGINS FOR TEAM PINK

Today Team Pink started the journey to the 2026 Sydney Marathon at Achilles Sydney training with guides Candice (who will be one of my guides in the marathon) and Matt. The plan was just a 10k run but ended up running 1/4 marathon, 10.55ks in 1:03:21. Today's run even though it was humid also filled me confidence that I can step up and make the finish line on 30th August 2026 at the Sydney Opera House.

SYDNEY MARATHON 2026 - I'M IN

Just over 2 weeks ago I was informed that I was unsuccessful in the Sydney Marathon ballot and did not get a place to which I was rather disappointed as I wanted to participate in the Sydney Marathon once again since it is now a world major. I let it all process and moved on from there to just focus on enjoying life more and running 10ks mainly with the odd extra distance here and there such as City2Surf and maybe a half marathon.
I woke up this morning to an email from Achilles Sydney advising me that the Sydney Marathon team had allocated some places to them for athletes with a disability and I have been allocated one of these spots. This was something I never expected and now looking forward too. I do plan to do this as run walk run and also represent One Girl too. Image is from the 2024 Sydney Marathon 10k.

NEW YORKCITY MARATHON DONE!! A CHALLENGING DAY

The day started for me by getting a train, ferry and real American school bus to the start line on Staten Island. The first 24ks went to plan doing my run walk intervals but after that it all fell apart and ended up walking most of the 18ks to the finish in Central Park. It was challenging but I got it done. Even met a girl cheering in blue hair. The crowd support was amazing with I would say millions of people lining the course to cheer us on. I heard many cheers of "Pink Hair" and "Do It In A Dress" as I went along. In the end it was a great experience and one I would do again. Ended up finishing in 5:59:07.

ALL STATIONS CHALLENGE DONE

On 14th March 2023 after 16 hours and 26 minutes starting at Tallawong at 4:35am and finishing at Roseville at 9:01pm stopping at all 180 stations on the Sydney Trains network I completed the All Stations Challenge befitting One Girl.
THe day had it moments with some minor delays on the Airport and South Line at 9:30am but did make it to my desinations on that line on time. Flow delays impacted the Leppington Line which did work in my favour but could have delayed me if things didn't work out at Leppington but they did. On the Bankstown Line after I left Cabramatta I checked my service from Birrong to Redfern and discovered it was cancelled from Lidcombe to Bankstown which delayed me 15 minutes getting to Redfern and resulted in another 15 minute delay getting to Lidcombe. From Lidcombe onwards everything went to plan with the 30 minute delay. Dinner plans worked out at Richmond. After dinner everything worked out and I arrived at Roseville at 9:01pm to complete the challenge. Was an extraordinary day and something I would do again.

Rock N Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon

What a night on the Las Vegas Strip last night running like a girl taking on #StripAtNight repping One Girl #DoItInADress. With clear skies and running from sunset through blue hour into the night Las Vegas truned it on and the city of blinding lights looked picture perfect. Put together a good 21.1ks in 1:53:52 in a time I was happy with. Had a great time on a great course. If you only ever run a few half marathons in life add this to your must do list.
