Your gift today gives a girl the support she needs to stay in school and pursue her dreams.
“My dreams for the future, I want to become a lawyer. I want to speak for the poor that cannot speak for themselves.”
– Fatmata, One Girl Scholar
However, in Sierra Leone, the cost of living keeps rising. Food, fuel, and school supplies now cost more than ever — and for many families, it’s becoming impossible to keep their daughters in school.
This holiday season, you can give girls the gift of education and the chance to keep learning, dreaming, and building a brighter future for herself and her community.
Meet Fatmata
Fatmata is twelve. For years, school felt out of reach.
After her mother passed away, and with her father too sick to work, she relied on her older sister — a student herself — to keep them both going. Fatmata shared her sister’s shoes, borrowed old notebooks, and often went to class hungry.
But when One Girl stepped in, everything changed. She received a new uniform, school bag, books, and lunch money — the simple things that made it possible to keep learning.
Now, Fatmata walks to school with pride. She dreams of becoming a lawyer, to stand up for girls and women in her community.
“Education will change my life. Education will change my situation, my family. Education will help me to achieve what I want to become in life.”
Give the gift of education and support more girls like Fatmata.
why girls?
- A girl with an education earns more, marries later, and is more likely to raise healthy, educated children.
- Every additional year of schooling can boost a girl’s future income by up to 20%
- If all girls completed secondary school, child marriage would drop by 64%.
- Educated girls are more likely to participate in decision-making, respond to climate disasters, and help break cycles of poverty.
One girl at a time.
